What Is FPA in MEPCO Bill?
FPA stands for Fuel Price Adjustment. It is a billing adjustment connected with changes in the fuel cost used for electricity generation. When fuel cost changes, electricity distribution bills may show an adjustment amount under FPA.
In simple words, FPA is not your basic electricity unit charge. It is an additional adjustment that may appear separately on the bill. The final payable amount can increase or decrease depending on the official monthly adjustment.

Why Is FPA Added in Electricity Bill?
Electricity in Pakistan is generated from different sources, including fuel-based power plants. When fuel prices change, the cost of electricity generation can also change. FPA is used to adjust this cost difference in consumer bills.
This is why two consumers with similar units may sometimes see different final bills if taxes, arrears, FPA, QTA or other adjustments are different in their billing cycle.

Simple FPA Example
Suppose your basic electricity charges are calculated from your consumed units. After that, the bill may include GST, FPA, QTA, fixed charges, arrears or other adjustments. If FPA is added, your final payable bill can become higher than the basic unit charges.
